To Jailbreak iOS 7.1 – Geeksn0w 2.6 Released

How to Jailbreak iPhone 4 iOS 7.1 using GeekSn0w

Despite Evad3rs announcing that they will not be working on an untethered jailbreak utility for iOS 7.1, another developer may have come up with a tethered solution for A4 devices.  The utility is called Geeksn0w and it is based on the limera1n exploit, first used back in 2010.

However, it is only compatible with the iPhone 4 and is really nothing that new.  Geeksn0w is a modified version of Opensn0w, developed by Winocm, together with the limera1n exploit and it will only result in a tethered jailbreak.
If you have an iPhone 4 and are happy to give this a go, we have the steps required to jailbreak using Geeksn0w below. However, we must advise you that you do this at your own risk. We cannot determine if this is an authentic jailbreak utility or not and users must exercise caution, especially in light of the number of fake jailbreak sites that appeared after iOS 7.1 was released.

Geeksn0w Supported Devices

The Geeksn0w utility is compatible with:
  • iPhone 4 GSM – AT&T, Global and Revision A
  • iPhone 4 CDMA
For those that are new to jailbreaking, a tethered jailbreak requires that your iPhone 4 is connected to your computer whenever you need to reboot it.
What you will need:
  • Your iPhone 4 on iOS 7.1
  • Download Geeksn0w for windows geeksn0w jailbreak ios 7.1 geeksnow

iOS 7.1 Untethered Jailbreak To Be Released Soon?

As expected, when an official firmware version is released, Apple tries to improve their operating system and various beta versions are unveiled. At this point, iOS 7 was updated to version 7.1 beta 3. In order to keep up with Apple’s releases, Evad3rs also try to upgrade their popular jailbreak tool in order to fully support jailbreak iOS 7.1.

Along with the full support for iOS 7.1, Evasi0n7 for iOS 7.1 untethered jailbreak was updated, and now, it includes a new version of Cydia Store. In the same time, the update brings a boot fix for boot loop issue on Retina iPad Mini. As you can see, it appears that Apple’s future firmware upgrade will not patch the Evad3rs jailbreak tool.
However, the most probably is that the Cupertino-based company will release a few more iOS 7.1 beta versions until the official release will reach the public’s devices. So far, users are not advised to upgrade their smart devices to the latest firmware and namely the iOS 7.1 beta 3 until some official news will be confirmed.
On the other hand, if you have not upgraded to iOS 7 so far, you can still perform an untethered jailbreak on your iOS device with the help of iPhone Dev Team’s Redsn0w or even Evad3rs’ Evasi0n for iOS 6 jailbreak. Both of these tools are reliable and secure. Within our website, you can find the instructions and the tools you need to perform jailbreak on any iOS device. We will be tracking the progress of the upcoming iOS 7.1 untethered jailbreak, so keep in touch with our latest posts and news.

Evasi0n7 for iOS 7.1 Jailbreak Patched

As expected after a big software update, Apple has managed to patch the Evasi0n7 jailbreak along with the release of iOS 7.1 update. If you want to preserve your device’s jailbreak status, you need to avoid updating your device, at least until the Evad3rs release something in this respect. The Evasi0n7 untethered jailbreak has been completely patched by the Fruit Company within the recent iOS 7.1 update.
Even though Apple has released a couple of iOS 7.0.x releases without patching the jailbreak utility, it was more than expected to see the first major update patching the jailbreak possibility. However, things were not that dark at first, especially since the first couple of iOS 7.1 beta updates did not kill Evad3rs’ tool. During this time, Apple has worked actually pretty hard in order to counteract the exploits in the latest released, which was more than evident that the final end-user version will completely kill Evasi0n7.

Apple iOS 7.1: Features, Fixes and Improvements

After a long development period and five different beta versions released in advance, the iOS 7.1 has been finally released yesterday. Even though this is not a big update, there is still a few changes and improvements that are worth to be noted.
In what concerns the iOS 7, when it was first released, the update was not received very well, especially since it brought numerous changes and improvements. As a matter of fact, some of these changes were downright despised. Along with this recent update, Apple tried to modify some of these bugs and tweak various areas of the iOS that were considered to be unnecessary. This new release should offer a more rounded experience to those of you who already updated to iOS 7.
